Happy Tuesday! I missed last week’s weekly wishes but I’ve managed to not slack off yet this week.  If it weren’t for the fact our internet is out for the FOURTH day in a row, I would have been ahead of schedule with posting.  But here I am. Finishing up this post on my lunch break at work.   Sigh.  I’m pretty sure I’ve experienced every stage of grief at this point in our internetless adventure.  It’s nice to have that extra push (or shove) to unplug, but it’s gotten pretty inconvenient at this point.  Anywho, I’ll stop complaining and jump right into my goals for this week.  Getting our internet back better be on your list of goals, Charter.

Weekly Wishes-August

Last week’s wishes

1.  Get ready to start full time.  I made it through my first week! The only thing that is miserable is the commute.  I’m now going into work at standard work hours and the traffic is ridiculous.  Add the back to school traffic and my 20-30 minute commute is now 40-50.  Uhm, no thank you.  The commute also has me leaving the house before Carl gets home from work and has me getting home after he’s left.  So on days he works, I don’t see him at all.  Going 48 hours or more without seeing my husband is a huge bummer.  BUT my next goal makes things a bit more bearable.

2.  Find an apartment.  We found an apartment! It’s beautiful.  I have a countdown on my phone to our move-in date.  It’s not until October.  Sigh.  It’s okay though.  It’s a lovely two bedroom, two bathroom with a great kitchen and patio.  So.  Excited.  It’s also much closer to work so Carl and I will actually be able to see each other.  We went to our storage unit this weekend and were remind of all the wedding gifts we have yet to open, it’s going to be like Christmas.  I already have a list of DIY’s to do to decorate.  If you like Something Winnderful on Facebook, you’ve been getting a taste of all the crafting to come.

This week’s goals.

1.  Stop drinking soda.  Sigh.  This is going to be tough, but every time I’ve given up soda I feel amazing and have zero bloating.  Who wants to feel bloated? Nobody.

2.  Write more to-do lists.  I’ve been all over the place with things I need to get done these past few weeks.  Our trip to Madison really threw everything off.  I need to get back into super productive mode and to-so lists is the best way to go.

I’ve learned short and sweet weekly wishes is the way to go.  Not drinking soda is going to be hard enough, I’m just setting myself up for failure if I add anything else to the list.  How many things do you try and accomplish for your weekly wishes?

  • Congrats on finding an apartment, that’s extremely exciting! Man, I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve told myself that I would stop drinking soda, I don’t drink it all the time like my husband does. But I give in and have one, you’re allowed to have one every now and then 🙂

I should stop drinking soda… but I don’t drink coffee… so I don’t know where I would get my caffeine from lol. Good luck and I hope that you can stick with it!!

    • See, it’s the caffeine that gets me. I get really bad caffeine headaches when I go without it and that’s just not a good thing at all. So ideally in quitting soda I’m quitting caffeine as well. I don’t quite know how I will function without caffeine, but I guess I’ll be finding out soon.

P.S. Thank you so much for commenting! I’m so sorry for taking so long to respond, I switched to Disqus and then got all out of my replying routine.

  • I haven’t had any soda since last December 31st. I’ve learned I’m an all-or-nothing kind of girl. I can’t limit myself to just a few sodas a week because then I’ll just make excuses to cheat. But apparently, I’m able to just not drink any soda at all. It’s not easy, but I definitely drink a lot more water and feel healthier without drinking soda calories. I’m excited to see apartment updates!

    • You go girl! I managed to get to a soda free point but it’s creeped back into my life after the past twoish years. My problem is I allow myself a soda whenever I eat out/get fast food. So whenever I go through a period where I’m eating out a lot and not cooking, my soda habit gets worse. I do good at not keeping it in the house, it’s just when I give up on cooking for a few months it goes downhill. Once we move I’ll be able to cook much more often so hopefully that’ll really help me quick the habit.

P.S. Thank you so much for commenting, I apologize for taking so long to respond, I got behind on leaving replies!

  • No Internet again??!! Gurl. Get a new provider in your new apt because that is ridiculous. You best be demanding a lower fee for these months from all the hastle.

AND YAH FOR YOUR OWN APARTMENT!! That’s going to be so exciting!

    • Charter internet is the devil. Like, have you seen the South Park episode about the cable company? I’m pretty sure that’s Charter. They’re whole company is full of those people.

  • My boyfriend and I recently stopped drinking soda as well, it helped to switch to flavored seltzer water, since it’s still bubbly, but way better for you than soda! 🙂

    • I’m so terrible at quitting, I switch to caffeine free soda first, like sprite or something. I get terrible caffeine headaches, so breaking that habit is a million times for painful that cutting out soda in general. I end up taking twice as many baby steps as probably necessary, but it’s affective, so I guess that makes it ok.
