I’m getting married in less than four months!  I’ve definitely had the, “Oh no I haven’t gotten anything done yet,” freakout.  However, we really actually hadn’t gotten anything done yet.  Seriously.  Our venues had our date in their books but we hadn’t confirmed anything.  We hadn’t gone to the florist or picked out invitations.  Our guest list is in the hands of Carl’s dad (not a good thing).  AND we don’t know what the groomsmen are going to wear.

If you aren’t having heart palpitations just reading that, know I am for you.  This past weekend I went home and probably had the most productive day of wedding planning any woman has ever had.  Seriously, I think only wedding planners get more done in a day than I did.  Since it’s been a long time I thought I would share with you what has been done.  For everyone’s sake I’m splitting this into two posts, I want to share pictures of everything.  🙂

I picked out bridesmaid dresses…and then changed my mind about bridesmaid dresses.

Dessy Convertible bridesmaid dress in clover

I first picked out a one shoulder dress that was pink.  Yes.  Pink.  The shop then gave us the deadline of paying for everything in full by the end of the month.  It just didn’t feel right.  The color.  The deadline.  The price.  I couldn’t do it.  So instead I had a mini meltdown and intensely researched other options and found something I liked even better.  I went with the long convertible dresses by The Dessy Group.  Bonus: They come in the green I wanted.  Even better, I know someone who has used them and said they were great.  Hells yeah.

We *officially* booked our ceremony site.

The Baptist Church of Beaufort

Now, this site has been picked before I was even born.  Our ceremony will be at the church I grew up in and also happens to be the church where my parents were married.  Kinda of an obvious pick.  They’ve had our date written down for months, but we finally put down the deposit to confirm.

We picked out the food for the reception and will be confirming it all this week.

Our reception is going to be at the club house on one of the islands near our church.  If that sounds weird, know that I live on a coastal town so there are just a bunch of islands around, basically.  Picking out food wasn’t too hard once we canceled out what was too expensive, what didn’t sound good, and what didn’t have a vegetarian option. Hopefully this week everything with the reception site will be in order.

I bought Carl’s wedding band.

Not to sound too surprised by it, but he actually picked out a really nice ring.  He went with his mom while I was out of town and found one he liked.  He picked out a 10k white gold custom made band.  Turns out the person who custom ordered it didn’t like it once it came in.  Oh well, his loss is our gain.  It’s the perfect size and everything.  I had a picture uploaded to share, but honestly the picture of Carl’s giant hand looked too terrifying on the screen.  Just know it’s pretty.

We picked out wedding favors.

DIY Birdseed Wedding Favors

Time to get our craft on!  We are making those bird seed hanging ornament things.  We have cute bags to put them in and the strings to hang them will be our wedding colors (yellow and green).  I know I’m going to regret choosing these when it comes time to make them, but oh well.  I panicked on not having any wedding planning done and made of a bunch of quick decisions.

That pretty much sums it up!  Part two will cover the who knows what’s going on parts of the planning.  Let me tell you, it’s going to be a doozy.

Did you wait until the last minute for any wedding planning?

  • Awesome job! 😀 I’m still in the early stages of wedding planning, so I loved reading your post. 🙂

Thank you! Good luck with your planning, it definitely goes by faster than you think. I read your post, I ended up picking out a ring I never thought I would want too. Congrats on your engagement, good luck on the planning, and thanks for reading!

Hi! I just stumbled upon your blog today and laughed when I saw this post because I had a freakout about a week or so ago and recently just did a post about slacking on wedding planning. I’m right behind you, my wedding is 5 months away and there is still so much to get done! It sounds like you made great progress the other day though. We just have to enjoy the process because it’s going to be over before we know it. Enjoy your weekend.
