Less than three weeks until I get married! Eeeeeeeee!!!  It’s coming down to the final details of the wedding. We’ve had way more last minutes decisions than I ever thought we would.  I don’t understand why weddings are so much work, but I’m assuming it will all be worth it in the end.

One of the last minute details we had to decide on was our guest book.  I knew from the beginning I did not want an actual book.  How often do you think I would pull that thing off the shelf and read it?  I wanted something pretty and unique.  Thankfully Pinterest and Etsy were there to help me find a great guest book alternative.  I would like to introduce you to wonderfullness of paper hearts.

Guest book alternative

Aren’t those hearts adorable? Those are our wedding colors too.  I decided I want guests to write on a heart as the guest book.  After the wedding and life isn’t crazy I plan on putting them in a frame.  (Yes we will have a note for guests to only write on one side of the hearts.)  Here’s an Etsy listing for hearts already in a frame:

I love the idea of having everyone’s name and messages on display as wall art.  It allows us to always be reminded of our wedding day and the support we have from our friends and family.  I also love the birds included in this frame and might have to include some whenever I create my piece.  Our cake toppers are birds so I think it’s fitting.  Right?

Did you have a nontraditional guest book at your wedding?

  • This is an adorable idea! I’ve never even been to a wedding (!!!!!!) so I have no idea what other alternatives are for guestbooks but I really like when people put their own spin on traditional things.

  • Cute idea! My friends framed an engagement picture and had people sign the matte (is that how you spell that?) around the photograph. I love seeing it hang up in their living room every time I come over, and I’m sure you’ll love looking at your “guest book” daily too!

Ooh, that’s cute! I thought about something like that but I was too lazy to get a picture and figure out what size frame we’d need haha.

  • I’m not married, but I love this idea for a guest book. You could probably even create some sort of shadow box and include your cake topper in it.

That’s a good idea! I’m glad we’re just having people sign the hearts at the wedding and then I can figured out what I want to do with them later.

  • We did something very similar and had them write advice or messages. We put them into a book with our wedding pictures. I didn’t think I’d ever look through a traditional guest book, but this was a more fun way to do it. I think you’ll love it 🙂

      Ooooh that’s a good idea!

  • I love your guest book! I used a traditional, actual book, but in retrospect, I really wish I had thought of something better like this. Dang!

Thanks! I’m sure in a few years people will come up with all sorts of more new ideas that I wish I would have done too haha.

  • Wow! This is a great idea! I have a friend that is getting married soon and I’m sure she will like this.

Thanks! Let me tell you, Pinterest and other bloggers are a great resource when it comes to wedding planning haha.

Oh my goodness!! Totally cute. I might steal when that day comes? But chances are I won’t remember the idea in a few years? Anyway, I’m so happy for you and can’t wait to hear more as the day quickly arrives!!!

    • SomethingWinnderful

Eeeee! I’m glad you like the idea! I’m sure there are going to be so many new things people think of in the future you’re going to have so many options for guest book ideas.

So, I’m also a redhead, our dresses had similar shapes, and we did the same thing with our guest book! (http://www.helenaswyter.com/wedding-guestbook/)

    • That’s so awesome! Also, your guest book turned out fabulous! We haven’t put ours together yet. My parents have all the hearts, but I haven’t bought a frame or anything to put them on yet. It’s still on the to-do list along with print a wedding photo book….and lots of other things even after almost a year. I survived wedding planning and managed to get my name changed, I think I can postpone that stuff for a little bit longer.

I’d love to see a picture of your dress!
